about

In every dream I've had
my parachute won't open
I plummet toward the ocean
diving with the birds

And you can rule out dental records
because my teeth are falling out
they're a couple feet ahead
denser than I'd expect

In every dream, it seems
I have become my father
With all of the acquaintances, just without the shoulders
and it isn't half as bad
as how you joke about with your friends
you get to watch a child become just like you
in the end

Every dream I have,
I look it up online
one third says, "You're dying."
and one third says, "You're fine."
And the final third, they press you
for every last detail
insomniacs who envy
even the nights on which you fail

In every dream I've had
I swear I've found religion
But I always wake up bitching
once I've learned the rules
And I'm lobbying the preacher
turn these books into a 4-hour movie
But leave the casting to me, Father
That's what makes the money

In every dream I've had
I say something I wouldn't
I touch something I shouldn't
And love a way I couldn't
The rest of the time
